The almond trees are blossoming all over Israel! Beautiful, plump, pink blossoms fill the air everywhere with a sweet fragrance.

Almonds are a staple in my kitchen. They have wonderful health benefits like fiber, protein, magnesium and vitamin E.

Almonds also help reduce blood sugar levels,blood pressure and cholesterol. And almonds taste so good in their raw natural form.

If you’ve been receiving my recipes for a while, you know that I use almonds in so many ways and forms. But sometimes plain and simple is the best. Fresh garlic, delicious Galilee Green Olive oil and a little salt makes plain green beans special.

Here’s a quick and easy recipe. Delicious, nutritious and so pretty on the table.Enjoy!

Almonds and Green Beans

Ingredients
serves 4

Almonds Blossoming

  • 4 cups of fresh green beans
  • 1 cup raw unsalted almonds with the skin on
  • 3 tablespoons Galilee Green Olive Oil (GGOO)
  • 1 teaspoon GGOO
  • 4 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Wash, drain, dry and trim the green beans.
  2. Heat the GGOO in a skillet.
  3. Add the green beans to the heated oil and cook on medium for about 7 minutes stirring occasionally. (If you prefer your beans very soft cook longer until you like the texture)
  4. Add the almonds and cook until they begin to brown stirring occasionally.
  5. When almonds and beans are ready, push them to the outside of the skillet and add 1 teaspoon of GGOO and then the minced garlic.
  6. Cook the garlic for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove skillet from the heat and toss the beans, almonds and garlic together with 1 teaspoon of salt (or more to taste).
