It’s hard to convince people who haven’t tasted Galilee Green, that there is an olive oil that will bring important nutrients to a sweet treat as well as enhancing the flavor –  and not overpowering it.

So imagine my surprise when my friend called the other day to tell me she was convinced! She had just made a brownie recipe with sea salt and Galilee Green Olive Oil and she said they were some of the richest most flavorful brownies she’s ever tasted.

Best Salty Sweet Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Galilee Green Olive Oil (GGOO)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoons hot water
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • pinch of sea salt to sprinkle on the brownies (optional)
  • topping – ¼ cup crushed cashews or walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line an 8 inch by 8 inch baking pan with baking paper
  2. In a large bowl, mix GGOO and sugar
  3. Stir in eggs
  4. Stir in cocoa powder, flour and salt and mix until smooth
  5. Dissolve baking soda into hot water in a measuring cup then stir vanilla into the measuring cup
  6. Add liquid to flour/cocoa mixture
  7. Stir in chocolate chips
  8. Pour batter into lined baking dish sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt (optional) and/or crushed nuts (optional) and bake until knife put into center comes out clean. Approximately 35 minutes.
