A number of studies have come out to show how small amounts of pure dark chocolate can help with heart and brain health.
We all know by now that Extra Virgin Olive Oil has tremendous health benefits and is the key to the Mediterranean diet that makes it so good for you.
But if you combine the two, do they have an even bigger impact?
Dr. Rossella Di Stefano, a cardioligist at University of Pisa decided to find out. And the results were surprising.
Dr Di Stefano reported: “We found that small daily portions of dark chocolate with added natural polyphenols from extra virgin olive oil was associated with an improved cardiovascular risk profile.”
The participants saw a significant increase in HDL (good) cholesterol and decrease in blood pressure.
