We had the privilege to live in Jerusalem for 15 years. Most of that time was in the western neighborhood called “Har Nof” (literally “mountain with the view”). There is a green belt surrounding the city called the Jerusalem Forest, and our building was right at the entrance to the forest.
Since 1948, millions of trees have been planted in the forest and it is full of parks and lookouts. The views are spectacular and the green belt provides a calming ring around the intensity of the Holy City.
