ShmuelOn our way from Yavne’el to Jerusalem, Netanya or Haifa we almost always pass Mount Tabor.

This is  where the Judge Deborah and Barak defeated Sisera.

“And Deborah said to Barak, Arise; for this is the day in which God has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not God gone out before you? So Barak went down from Mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.” (Judges [4:14])

Kfar Tavor is a Jewish Moshava (farming village) that was established at the beginning of the 20th century around the same time as our village Yavne’el. It is situated at the base of the mountain opposite the Arab village of Shibli and Daburaya. Notice the similarity between the name Daburaya and Deborah.

One of the ways archeologists identified the biblical towns associated with digs was that nearby Arab villages maintained references to the original Hebrew biblical names!

Enjoy this short segment of our trip through Kfar Tabor.
