Nostalgia! – Packing the first tin of Galilee Green Olive Oil at Kibbutz Degania

Back in November of 2013, after picking our own olives in Yanvne’el, we took them to the Olive Press at Kibbutz Degania Aleph which is a short 15 minute drive from our home in Yavne’el.

During harvest season they keep the machinery running all night processing tons of fresh olives and turning them into the liquid gold. However when we arrived with our small quantities of crates of olives, they found a way to “slip us in” and do us a favor.

Behind the operation is Hadas who has become a good friend of ours and is almost as enthusiastic about our Galilee Green project as we are. Her great grandfather was one of the founding pioneers of Kibbutz Degania in 1909.

They treated us and our small quantity of olives with such care and respect that when we decided to start up Galilee Green, we turned to Hadas and the team at Degania to work together.
