“See, this day I set before you blessing and curse:”

(Deuteronomy 11:26)

WAR UPDATE 41

There have been a lot of “reality checks” this past week here in Israel. Each one seemed to upturn conventional wisdom.

1. PREEMPTIVE STRIKE IN LEBANON

Many experts said we had to “finish” with Hamas in Gaza before we could launch a large campaign in Lebanon.

This has caused 80,000 Israeli’s from northern communities to become refugees in their own country for over 10 months while we have been waiting for the “Gaza Campaign” to end before beginning the “Lebanon Campaign”

However, that was shown to be false early Sunday morning with the incredible preemptive strike against Hezbollah in Lebanon, as they were readying to fire 6000 missiles into northern and central Israel at 5:00am.

At 4:40 am, about 100 of our best fighter jets crossed into Lebanon SIMULTANEOUSLY and destroyed the vast majority of those launchers and missiles. Hezbollah was stunned and is still evaluating its losses.

2. LIVE HOSTAGE RESCUE

Many pundits were claiming that the only way to get the remaining live hostages out of Gaza was to make a deal with Sinwar and agreeing to withdraw the IDF from Gaza, including the strategic Philadelphi Corridor and Netzarim Corridor.

That fallacy was put to rest on Tuesday morning when the IDF rescued a living hostage from inside a tunnel deep under Rafah!

Remember when they told us we couldn’t evacuate 1.5 Million Gazan civilians from Rafah? When they told us we couldn’t fight underground?

The irony was that so-called “apartheid” Israel sent Jewish soldiers to rescue a Bedouin Muslim held captive by Hamas Muslims.

3. OPERATION “SUMMER CAMP” IN SAMARIA

Another “sacred cow” to be destroyed completely this week is that the “Palestinian Authority” (aka the PLO terror organization) who fully controls the security of large areas of Judea and Samaria (called Area A) is still Israel’s partner for peace. Many think the PA should be given control of Gaza “after the Hamas war.”

As Hamas is on the verge of defeat, Iran who wants proxies to fight Israel has turned to radicalize and provide money and weapons to Hamas terrorists in Judea and Samaria and ignite a new intifada.

This has been going on for months under the PA’s noses. The Israeli Government and IDF have finally decided to treat “West Bank Hamas” no differently than “Gaza Hamas.”

This week a major Campaign to eliminate Hamas terrorists in Northern Samaria began with a full incursion of the IDF into the terror cities of Jenin and Tulkarem including aerial assassinations with drones and IDF fighter jets.

It has become clear that there is no real difference between the populations in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Iran is supporting terror, the PA either ignores Hamas terror or indirectly supports it.

There is no future for a “two state solution.” Outsiders don’t understand it, but it is clear to everyone here in Israel. The path forward seems confusing, or is it?

4. THE BLESSING AND THE CURSE

This week, we read the Torah Portion “Re’eh” (Deuteronomy 11:26 -16:17) in synagogues around the world. It begins this way:

רְאֵ֗ה אָנֹכִ֛י נֹתֵ֥ן לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם הַיּ֑וֹם בְּרָכָ֖ה וּקְלָלָֽה׃

See, this day I set before you blessing and curse:

(Deuteronomy 11:26)

This is a message that Moses is delivering to the Nation of Israel as they are about to cross the Jordan River from the “East Bank” into the Land of Israel.

God’s instructions via Moshe are quite binary. Each individual citizen (the word “see” is written in the singular) must realize that the Nation (“before you” is plural) is confronted with a simple but not easy decision to make.

We can choose a life of blessing which includes total victory over our enemies and prosperity in the Land. Or we can choose the opposite.

What must we do to earn the blessings?

[Receive] the blessing, if you keep the rules of your God that I command upon you this day;

(Deuteronomy 11:27)

What will bring on the curses?

and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of your God, but turn away from the path that I enjoin upon you this day and follow other gods, whom you have not experienced.

(Deuteronomy 11:28)

However if we decide to adopt and empower foreign laws based on foreign value systems as the “Law of the Land” we will suffer the curses inflicted by our enemies.

In other words, if we chose to make the Torah the Law of the Land… everything will be blessings for the nation

After 2000 years of exile, and 100 years of war here in Israel against our Arab and Muslim enemies.

We should have enough experience to “see” this truth as the way forward. The only question is will the entire Nation of Israel wake up and see this reality.

With prayers for all Israel and the rest of the world to “see” what really is the source of our blessing.
