My dear friend and colleague Rabbi Ken Spiro came up to Yavne’el for Shabbat and we decided to take a quick trip to the Jordan River and the Sea of Galilee to see what they looked like “Full!”
Ken is a Rabbi, an historian, author and a licensed Israel Tour Guide, so he’s probably the best person in the country to see the sites.
First we stopped at the dam at Kibbutz Degania where the Jordan River exits the Kinneret to flow south toward the Dead Sea in the south.
Then we walked past the Degania Military Cemetery where soldiers who fell in Israel’s wars are buried. We learned about Israel’s oldest kibbutz before crossing highway 90 to take a look at the river above the dam to see what it looked like at its highest point!
Later that same day, we entered Tiberias where we were shocked to see so many Israeli tourists and we enjoyed a Shwarma before walking down to the Lakefront. People were enjoying the hot summery day on pleasure-craft and jet-skis!
You’ll see the Lake at it’s fullest along with the Golan Heights and hear some stories from the Six Day War and local heros of the Golani Brigade.
If you enjoyed listening to Ken on these “Walk and Talk” Video Clips, you’ll love Ken’s books.
