The first Kibbutz (socialist agricultural commune) was established in 1911 on the shores of the Sea of Galilee where the Jordan River exits the southern end of the Sea.
By 1946 (in the Israel Government Press Office photo above) it had already become a legend and leader among communities in Israel.
