Shmuel I went searching for the rare wild Israeli Blue Iris blooms… you won’t believe what I found!!!

After most of the winter rains have fallen, the Galilee and Golan burst alive with wild flowers.
The Suicide of Saul by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, 1562.
It’s a national pastime in Israel to hike through the hills and valleys to enjoy the awesome display of color.

One of the most rare and difficult to find are the Wild Iris. They appear in blue, purple and black.

To find the flowers I drove up to the top of Mount Gilboa. This is where King Saul and his sons died in battle against the Philistines.

There is a settlement called Malkishua (one of Saul’s sons) at the summit. We drove around the security fence and followed a dirt road where we began our hike.

This is an amazing off-the-beaten-path … but watch and you’ll see what we discovered!

What a true blessing to see all Elohim’s land and flowers that canvas His landscape. Thank you Galilee Green. We love you from USA.
