Galilee Green is much more than an Olive Oil company. We are here to help connect you the Land of Israel, its People, its Torah and the Land’s Bounty!

ivy starburstThat’s why we like sharing with you what it’s like to live here in the Galilee. Last week we told you about the amazing blossom we discovered in our garden. Without giving our Hoya ivy any attention during the Shmittah (Sabbatical) Year, it blossomed!!

Since then, we did some research and found out how difficult it is to get the Hoya plant to bloom. And what we thought was the most beautiful bloom, was our plant only getting ready to strut its stuff.

This morning I went down to the garden and discovered the waxy pink stars had opened up to these fabulous flowers you can see in the top photo.

The “Three Weeks”

We are in the middle of the three weeks between the 17th of the month of Tammuz (when the siege of Jerusalem took place by the Romans) and the 9th of Av (when the Temple was destroyed).

Throughout these past 3300 years of Jewish history, the greatest tragedies occurred during these difficult weeks. Each year at this time we are on constant vigil, avoid dangerous situations and observe some of the customs of mourning.

We were not surprised therefore, that the capitulation and appeasement of the western ‘powers’ and announcement of the Iran Nuclear Deal occurred during the “Three Weeks.” At the simple political level, this ‘deal’ seems to be a calamity for the future of the Jewish people in Israel.

But the Almighty is pulling the strings of history from behind the scenes… like the waxy pink stars, in spite of the horrors of the past 2000 years of exile, the Jewish people have miraculously been gathered from the four corners of the earth and  the Land has blossomed. Today, after 70 years of war, Israel is known throughout the world as the miracle on the Mediterranean…

So, no matter how gloomy the present situation looks, remember.. the best is yet to come!!

Watch this amazing 30 second time-lapse video and see the ‘little’ miracle unfold before your eyes…

This is known as a “wax plant” in my part of the world, totally gorgeous, you are so lucky to have it in your garden and to live there!
