I was returning home to Yavne’el in the Galilee from picking up some decanters at our supplier in Samaria.

We decided to stop for a picnic lunch at the official rest stop on Highway 6 which is the main north/south toll road in the country.

The rest stop is similar to one you might find on an interstate in America complete with gas station, coffee shop and some picnic tables outside.

We found some tables at the edge of the parking area beside a lovely olive orchard where we ate our sandwiches (chicken salad made with Galilee Green Olive Oil of course LOL!)

But there was something else in the corner of the parking lot which you’ll only find at a highway rest stop in Israel. The small trailer in the picture above is actually a Synagogue placed there for travelers who would like to say their afternoon or evening prayers in a proper place of worship.
