Have you been searching for an easy, yet delicious and healthy recipe challah?

Over time our family’s tastes have changed and evolved. In the beginning when our kids were little we often served a fluffy sweet version.

More recently we’ve moved away from white flour, and I’ll have a whole wheat version.

This recipe is a compromise  with half white flour, and half whole wheat. And the honey and sugar to make it a real crowd pleaser.

  3. Mix until you’re able to turn it on your kneading surface and knead for 5 minutes
  4. Oil large bowl then place kneaded dough in bowl and cover with damp towel
  5. Let rise for 1 hour
  6. Knead again and form into loaves
  7. Brush loaves with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top
  8. Bake in preheated (350 degree) oven on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper for 30 minutes until golden brown

TIP

This challah recipe taste amazing fresh out of the oven. However if you bake them on Friday, they won’t be as fresh for Shabbat lunch.

After they cool down on Friday afternoon, you can wrap them up in baking paper and then tin foil and put them in the freezer.

Take them out 2 hours before you are ready to serve them on Shabbat and they’ll be super fresh.
